Aren’t athletic shoes already designed to stop the effects of dust and dirt on court surfaces?
Athletic shoes are designed to provide a high-level of traction between the sole of the shoe and the playing surface, but when the sole becomes dirty during play, its ability to provide traction to the player may be compromised. This can lead to decreased athletic performance, since the athlete cannot push off from the court surface as intended. The shoe slips. Slipping can lead to injury. GuardDawg™ / GuardDawgLITE™ offers you the opportunity to clean and moisten the underside of your athletic shoes at your convenience to ensure that your shoes stay clean and you don’t slip.
What are the advantages of having an anti-slip device attached to one’s shoe?
Since there is no need to leave the court to moisten, or clean the underside of your athletic shoes, your playing time can be near continuous. No need to leave the court. No chemicals. No sticky mats. No sprays. No recurring costs or having to worry about having replacement product in one’s gym bag. No having to lick one’s fingers (hygienic). Environmentally friendly. Court grip traction your way!
I thought water on a court surface and athletic shoes don’t mix.
Too much water on a floor surface can be dangerous, but ‘just the right amount’ can provide the tackiness needed between an athletic shoe and a court floor. This is why sticky sprays, mats and moist towels are often used by athletes to improve their traction. Our system allows you to determine the amount of liquid (tackiness) that you desire based on your personal taste.
Can I insert the Technoslips™ into GuardDawg™ / GuardDawgLITE™ wet instead of dry?
Technoslips™ can be inserted dry or wet. You can easily use a water fountain or water bottle to wet the Technoslips™. We think it’s easier to add water when GuardDawg™ / GuardDawgLITE™ is not yet attached to an athletic shoe but you will find the solution that works best for you. We do not recommend adding water through the mesh front as it is very tight mesh and water will not easily pass through it.
Do I need two GuardDawgs (one on top of each shoe), or can I just purchase one?
One GuardDawg, or two? It’s your choice.
One GuardDawg? 1. Swipe the opposite shoe across GuardDawg. 2. Touch the floor with the moistened shoe. 3. Rub both shoes through the temporary wet spot on the floor.
Two GuardDawgs? 1. Swipe the bottom of each shoe across the top of GuardDawg. 2. Rub both shoes through one of the two temporary wet spots on the floor.
Want to share your GuardDawg with your team mates? We have found some athletes who will wear ONE GuardDawg and whenever there is a break in play, the entire team will quickly come over and wipe their court shoes across this athlete’s GuardDawg. Wiping of course removes the dust and dirt. They then rub their court shoes through the temporary wet spot on the court floor allowing each athlete to regain that near-new-shoe tacky feeling.
When you hear that high-pitched squeak from the rubber below, you will know your court shoe has just been optimized!
We believe your optimized configuration is one GuardDawg (which includes a shoe wallet for storing small valuables + two Technoslip inserts) and one GuardDawgLITE (no shoe wallet + one Technoslip insert).
How can I optimize the time between water refills?
GuardDawg™ is designed to hold 60-90 minutes of water depending on how it’s used. If the Technoslips™ is fully saturated, and during use you don’t ‘press down’ on it instead ‘swipe’ the bottom of your shoe across the top of it, you will have plenty of water for your match – without having to stop for a refill. Practice using it. You will quickly find what works best for you. For even more water, you might want to put two Technoslips™ in the front compartment.
Can I leave the shoelace security flap open to maximize the mesh-to-shoe contact surface availability?
The shoelace security flap provides additional security in that it helps keep your shoelaces tight when they are tied up. It’s not mandatory to have it closed. It’s true that if the flap is left open, you will have a larger mesh surface area available to you for swiping and cleaning the underside of your opposite shoe bottom.
How long does the LED light in my WatchDawg™ last before it needs to be replaced?
The LED light itself will provide well over hundreds of hours of usage time and will depend upon the life of the battery that you choose to use. Battery not included.
